FAQs
What does "student-led" learning look like?
In our microschool program, we encourage students to spend time acquiring information about subjects they love in a way that is comfortable to them—books, movies, blogs, documentaries, etc. We help them to vet and organize information. Then they get to apply what they learn to projects that energize them. Finally, they present their projects to the group in a method they choose—speech, skit, video, etc.
This is just one example of how we encourage student-led learning. We also use Socratic discussions, small group break-out sessions led by students, and choice boards that give students a voice in their learning pathway for the day.
Do we have to identify as Christian?
Certainly not! We welcome everyone who values love, learning, and compassion. We are Christian, and in our microschool program, we pray, talk about Jesus, and occasionally play Christian music. Students in the microschool participate in Bible study and Christian apologetics classes. Our summer camps and enrichment classes focus only on the subject matter of the class without Bible topics included.
All Bible classes in the microschool are taught from a non-denominational perspective without getting into doctrinal debates, as we feel that is best left for parents to teach.
Do you serve children with special needs?
While we do not have a service available for children who require a 1:1 guide, we welcome those who are neurodivergent, highly sensitive, and/or gifted. We are an ESA+ provider striving to meet the needs of students with mild disabilities, primarily in the area of neurodiversity, including level 1 autism, ADHD, and sensory processing challenges. Please reach out to us if you have more specific questions about your child's needs.
Do you accept the Opportunity Scholarship?
Yes!
